Description
The I2C-LVL01 performs bi-directional I2C level conversion between any two levels: 1.65v to 5.5v.  The connection pins are on a standard 0.1″ spacing, 0.3″ apart. Using chip FXMA2102.

FXMA2102 High-Performance Configurable Dual-Voltage-Supply Translators provide bi-directional voltage translation over a wide range of input and output voltage levels. These devices feature a bi-directional interface between any two levels from 1.6V to 5.5V. onsemi / Fairchild FXMA2102 voltage translators are intended for applications using the I²C bus interface. The input and output voltage levels are compatible with I²C device specification voltage levels. FXMA2102 voltage translators offer non-preferential power-up and either VCC may be powered up first.

Schematic

PortA, (PL1) is the controller side as this port does not include pull-up resistors. These are normally fitted to your controller.
PortB (PL2) is the slave device side and includes 4k7 pull-up resistors.

The FXMA2102 is a high−performance configurable dual−voltage−supply translator for bi−directional voltage translation over a wide range of input and output voltages levels. Intended for use as a voltage translator between I2C−Bus complaint masters and slaves. The device is designed so that the A port tracks the VCCA level and the B port tracks the VCCB level. This allows for bi−directional A/B port voltage translation between any two levels from 1.65 V to 5.5 V. VCCA can equal VCCB from 1.65 V to 5.5 V. The OE pin is referenced
to VCCA. Either VCC can be powered−up first. Internal power−down control circuits place the device in 3−state if either VCC is removed. The two ports of the device have automatic direction sense capability. Either port may sense an input signal and transfer it as an output signal to the other port.
